Η θεατρική ομάδα "ΠράξονΑνομήματα" σε συνεργασία με τη Μαρία Ξενουδάκη παρουσιάζει τη θεατρική παράσταση "Χωρίς-me". To έργο -που απαρτίζεται από επιστολές χωρισμού γυναικών- ένας ύμνος στη γυναίκα και στον τρόπο που αντιμετωπίζει τις σχέσεις της με το άλλο φύλο.Η σκηνοθέτης και οι ηθοποιοί προσπαθούν να εισχωρήσουν στην γυναικεία ευαισθησία και ενσαρκώνουν ηρωίδες που επαναστατούν απέναντι στα ήθη κάθε εποχής και κερδίζουν την ψυχική τους ακεραιότητα και ανεξαρτησία.

Boulevard Soundsystem mixtape in red, gold and green for Aut Aut Pisa

Reggae music is rebel music, and that says a lot about the music itself and its dedicated aficionados. When I was asked by Aut Aut Pisa to do a ‘playlist’, I rebelled and offered a live mixtape instead, promising to deliver a political message through the selection of the music. But in the end I also rebelled against that giving preference to a mix and blend of a wide range of Jamaican music(s) which is characteristic of both my personal style and the musical genre itself. Reggae music need not shout out its politics because it is inherently political even when it doesn’t try to be. As a black diasporic music, its heavy basslines pump out righteous blood in the heart of the political community in which it finds itself, internationally or, rather…AUTernationally!

So here it is, an AUTernational mixtape in red gold and green; the Rastafarian colours which symbolise the blood of those killed for the cause of the black community (red), Jamaica’s vegetation and hope for the eradication of suppression (green) and the wealth of Ethiopia, African motherland of Rastas (gold). But these three colours need not exhaust themselves in the theology and world vision of Rastafarianism as a culture of resistance. So they are here employed to allegorically allude to the variety and ‘mixability’ of a musical culture I have come to love and humbly yet proudly serve as a reggae selector with my sound, Boulevard Soundsystem, in the hope you’ll ride along with us with those riddims, rhymes and big basslines.

Boulevard Soundsystem is a UK-based reggae selector dividing his time between Brighton and his native Greece, working with great British MCs such as Brother Culture, MC Trooper, MC Champian and Serocee with whom he runs the regular Reggae Bombing clubnight. In his free time he writes a PhD on public sociology and intellectuals.

Boulevard Soundsystem meets Mad Professor @radiobubble.gr (July 2010)

In the heat of the summer of 2010, Mad Professor came to Greece to appear at 'One Love Summer Festival' and a day before the show we took a stroll together in the picturesque back streets of Plaka (Athens), and when noon came hailed a cab to make it to the studio of radiobubble.gr where for two hours we would continue our discussions...in dub (over freshly baked paninis and coffee) where I got to 'tease' out his reactions to a musical selection of original dubplates that provide the excuse for some interesting between Professor and a Dr. to be... click and enjoy!?

In anticipation for Soul Jazz Records' The Cover Art of Studio One Records which comes out early next month, Boulevard Soundsystem digs deep into the crates, this time looking for original Studio One LPs and not 7" 45s that usually monopolize our all-vinyl weekly radio show @radiobubble.gr (Fridays, 21:00-22:00)

Our tribute to Studio One of course is a musical one and the idea is to show and celebrate the distinctiveness of the sound of Studio One by 'running' a little history of each genre that the legendary recording studio and publishing house introduced if not pioneered.

Clement 'Coxsone' Dodd, Master of the Royal Society of Jazz,King of Sounds and founder of Studio One, was the first black man to open a recording studio in Jamaica and that event took place in October 1963 at 13 Brentford road in Kingston 5, appropriately renamed Studio One Boulevard four days before Coxsone died in 2004. A jazz buff, drunk on early American rhythm and blues he started collecting records by making regular trips to the States, played them in dances and soon decided that it was time to blend this musical import from the US with the Caribbean backbeat thus giving rise to the first releases of Jamaican music with ska leading the way to rocksteady, roots, early dancehall, lovers, reggae disco, soul and funk and the first experiments in dub. Any genre of reggae you might think of just sounds different at Studio One and tonight's show testifies to that...

...So sit back, relax, chill out and let the story of Studio One unravel itself as the turntables turn and, who knows you might end up imagining record covers for the tunes you hear!

Μια συζήτηση με τον Γιώργο Αμυρά. Αρχηγός δημοτικής παράταξης και μέλος του δημοτικού συμβουλίου του Δήμου Αθηναίων, δημοσιογράφος, θεατρικός συγγραφέας, ποδηλάτης. Πολιτικά, αυτοπροσδιορίζεται ως ανοιχτόμυαλος αστός.

Κάναμε μια σύντομη αναδρομή στις εξελίξεις που αφορούν τον Δήμο Αθηναίων το τελευταίο έτος. Μας μίλησε για την προεκλογική περίοδο, αλλά και για τα πρώτα προβλήματα που αντιμετώπισε το δημοτικό συμβούλιο. Αποκαλύπτει τα εκατομμύρια ευρώ που θα πληρώσουμε τα επόμενα έτη για τις στολές της δημοτικής αστυνομίας (!), την πρότασή του που έγινε δεκτή για την λειτουργία του παραδοσιακού καφενείου του Πικιώνη, αλλά και για τον ποδηλατόδρομο Ακαδημία Πλάτωνος - Γκάζι, τα ποδήλατα στο ΜΕΤΡΟ, καθώς και για τον ποδηλατικό γύρο της Αθήνας.

Μίλησε επίσης για την ΕΡΤ, στην οποία παρουσιάζει καθημερινή εκπομπή τα τελευταία χρόνια, καθώς και για εναλλακτικές δυνατότητες αξιοποίησής της.

Μια πολυεπίπεδη προσωπικότητα που εργάζεται μεθοδικά και ουσιαστικά για τον Δήμο της Αθήνας, προτείνοντας πολλές ιδέες και λύσεις για τα προβλήματα της πόλης μας.

retrospectiva [episode 43]

Μια συζήτηση με τον Αντιδήμαρχο Αθηναίων, κ. Τάσο Αβραντίνη, αρμόδιο για ζητήματα δημοτικής αστυνομίας και πολεοδομίας.

Συζητήσαμε για την ελεγχόμενη στάθμευση και τις κλήσεις για παράνομο παρκάρισμα, για το θέμα της πλατείας Συντάγματος και των Ρομά του Βοτανικού, για την απελευθέρωση του επαγγέλματος της πορνείας, την συζήτηση περί εμμονής στη "νομιμότητα", για το πρόβλημα με τα σκουπίδια, τις άδειες των καταστημάτων για μουσική.

Επίσης, λόγω και της ιδιότητάς του ως ιδρυτικού στελέχους της "Δράσης", συζητήσαμε για τις εξελίξεις στο φιλελεύθερο χώρο και μας είπε ότι είναι υπέρ της συνεννόησης διαφόρων πολιτικών και φορέων προς αυτή την κατεύθυνση, ενώ δήλωσε και ότι σε ενδεχόμενο εκλογών θα κατέλθει υποψήφιος.
