Zeus (description at https://www.usenix.org/sites/ default/files/jets0101- complete.pdf) is a, full circle, elections open source software and methodology. 120 elections and 23000 voters have taken place with Zeus in various Greek institutions. It is a browser based procedure, organising voters, votes and results in an open, transparent and efficient way. Anonymity of voters and non identification of votes are effectively answered through cryptography and mathematical models. For example, the electoral committee does not have access to votes, unless in a random way due to a shuffle mechanism: you do not know how you shuffle, but need to prove that you do it correctly. The shuffle is done is such a way that you can show that you still have the same ballots at its output, without linking it with the input. So the votes are anonymised.

They aim at exploring new ways of citizens' engagement, organisation and action. The results of this effort will be a part of an ongoing research effort that maps the activities of Greece in the Open Government Partnership (http://www.opengovpartnership.org/countries/greece).
This Tuesday (12.11), 17.00 - 18.00 (UTC+02:00) we will be discussing with Panos Louridas (@louridas) on code trajectories: an open source software, called Zeus (https://github.com/grnet/zeus) , a verifiable internet ballot casting and counting system. Our governing on openess stories and anecdotes will include its initial design and evolution, the community that embraced or hated it, as well as, its future implementations
